Background & Experience
Mr Briant-Evans graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 1999, later teaching anatomy at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ before completing basic surgical training on the Hammersmith Hospitals Rotation. He developed a particular interest in hip surgery and research during his early orthopaedic training in Exeter, one of the world’s leading centres for hip replacement.
He completed specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic training in Wessex, including an AO Trauma Fellowship in Denver, Colorado and an advanced arthroplasty fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand. This was followed by a joint replacement fellowship at North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke and an honorary fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford in complex revision and lower limb reconstruction.
He has been a substantive Consultant at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2014 and serves as Joint Replacement Rapid Recovery Lead Clinician. He is particularly recognised for his national and international research investigating and revising metal on metal hip replacements, and is actively involved in teaching and research through Southampton University and the Royal Society of Medicine.
