Meet Mr Mehra: A Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, from primary joint replacement to complex revision.
Mr Akshay Mehra is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery. He qualified in medicine in India before moving to the UK, where he trained in general surgery and then orthopaedics on the Birmingham higher surgical training programme. He completed fellowships in hip and knee surgery at Leicester General Hospital and in complex hip and knee reconstruction at St Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, and has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, since 2013.
Mr Mehra’s practice is built on evidence based care for patients with hip and knee conditions. His approach centres on restoring mobility, managing pain and supporting each patient through a long term recovery, whether they need a first joint replacement, a partial knee replacement or revision surgery on an existing implant.
Mr Mehra has published widely in peer reviewed medical journals, wrote a chapter on hip surgery for a specialist textbook and has presented his work at national and international conferences. He also teaches doctors on the Birmingham orthopaedic training programme, helping to develop the next generation of surgeons.
