Meet Mr Robinson: Specialist Upper Limb Orthopaedic Care
Providing specialist, patient-focused care for shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist conditions, with expertise in joint replacement, keyhole surgery and sports-related injuries.
Mr Simon James Robinson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb surgery, with particular expertise in the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist.
Based at Wirral University Teaching Hospital since 2017, Mr Robinson has developed extensive experience in treating conditions affecting the upper limb. His clinical interests include shoulder osteoarthritis, shoulder replacement surgery and keyhole shoulder surgery, alongside the treatment of sports-related injuries.
He also specialises in hand and wrist conditions, including nerve and tendon disorders, and performs a range of procedures designed to relieve pain, restore function and improve movement.
Background & Experience
Mr Robinson graduated from the University of Manchester before undertaking his initial surgical training at Royal Preston Hospital. He subsequently completed his specialist Orthopaedic training in the Mersey region.
Towards the end of his training, Mr Robinson undertook an in-training fellowship at Wrightington Hospital, where he developed specialist expertise in complex shoulder replacement surgery and nerve surgery of the upper limb.
He then completed a British Elbow and Shoulder Society fellowship in Chesterfield, gaining further specialist training in shoulder and elbow surgery, as well as hand and wrist procedures.
Mr Robinson also holds a diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine, reflecting his particular interest in sports-related injuries and helping patients return to the activities that matter to them.
His approach combines specialist surgical expertise with a focus on understanding each patient’s symptoms, lifestyle and individual treatment goals.
Mr Robinson’s specialist training includes a British Elbow and Shoulder Society fellowship, supporting his expertise across shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist surgery.
